



All Orange Township firefighters are State of Ohio Firefighter Level II certified. Each firefighter is required, as per Ohio State Law, to maintain their certification by completing a minimum of fifty-four hours of continuing education every three years.
Because Orange Township Fire Department provides Emergency Medical Services (EMS), all firefighters also have EMS training. Sixty firefighters are EMT-Paramedics and five are EMT-Basics. EMT-Paramedics must complete a minimum of eighty-six hours of continuing education and EMT-Basics must complete a minimum of forty hours of continuing education. Both EMT-Paramedics and EMT-Basics must complete, as per Ohio State Law, the required continuing education hours every three years.
Orange Township Fire Department operates a heavy rescue, so firefighters operating this piece of equipment are Rescue Technicians. Orange Township currently has twenty-nine certified Rescue Technicians.
In order to keep its firefighters educated on the latest methods and techniques, Orange Township utilizes a range of training opportunities including Bowling Green State Fire School, Columbus State Community College, Cleveland State University, Fire Department Instructor’s Conference, Howell Rescue, National Fire Academy, Ohio Fire Academy, various other seminar and training groups as well as self training techniques.
