Our population as of the 2000 Census was 12,464, and the 2010 Census shows us at 23,762.
Approximately seventy percent (70%) of the Township is developed. Eighty percent (80%) of that development is in residential use. Residential development is rather evenly spread throughout the Township. About 13% is in the highly developed annexed portions (Polaris area) in the cities of Columbus and Westerville. Approximately 12.2% of the township land is in the Alum Creek State and Highbanks Metro parks.
Orange Township offers close proximity to Columbus, Delaware and Westerville. Area universities include: Columbus State Community College, Capital University, Columbus College of Art & Design, Devry, Franklin University, Mt. Carmel College of Nursing, Mt. Vernon, Ohio Dominican College, Ohio Wesleyan University, Otterbein College, The Ohio State University, Pontifical College Josephinum, and University of Phoenix. Our zoning and comprehensive plans are designed to limit commercial and industrial uses primarily to the Columbus Pike (U.S. 23) and East Powell Road / Polaris Parkway corridors. All other portions are zoned for residential use. Agriculture is still practiced in our northern sections.
